Week by week parish officers faithfully make sure that our services of worship are recorded in the church registers. Thank you. The church attendance you record is invaluable and is used in the parish, the deanery and our diocese.

We know it takes time. We want to make it easier. It can be easier. There’s an app for that!

If you want a quick, simple, flexible and efficient way to record and submit your church attendance data then meet the Church of England’s Service Register App. Running on Apple or Android, smartphone or tablet, the Service Register App can collect your service information – at a time that suits you. Whether you want to add the data after every service or at the end of the week or even monthly the App makes it easy.

  • It’s a free download for Apple or Android smartphones or tablets
  • It’s available through your computer’s internet browser (e.g. Edge, Chrome etc.) so you can use a laptop or desktop at home if that’s more convenient. Maybe photograph the service book for data entry later on.
  • You can enter your data in church even if you don’t have an internet connection (e.g. phone signal or WiFi) in church. Simply click to the CofE Service Register. Log in and you are good to go.
  • Using the app means there’s no need to complete the Service by Service attendance returns (what we used to call the quarterly attendance returns). The data you enter is uploaded and immediately available to our parish support teams.
  • Each church can have as many free user accounts as needed to record service attendance: a Churchwarden on Sunday; a Verger at a Monday funeral or a Wednesday school service; clergy at an afternoon baptism or a Thursday morning Eucharist; a lay leader at Messy Church and any other Fresh Expression of church. Each user can see the information for their church entered by their fellow church members.
  • The Service Register App does not replace your hard copy service book in the church vestry. You should complete the service book as usual.
  1. Download the app from the Google or Apple play store.
  2. Check first. You may well already have access to the App. If you have a Parish Returns account those login details are the same for the Service Register app.
  3. If you don’t have a login for the app, please email Central Services or Resources at the address below. A username and password will be created for you and sent to you by email.

Downloading data to Parish Returns

Use the App fully and – at the click of a button – you can pull all your Service Register App data into the Statistics for Mission form. It will populate around two thirds of the Stats form, saving you time and effort. Guidance on how to import your App data is available on our Training Hub website.

Not everyone has a smartphones or feels confident online. You can still use Excel spreadsheets to record your data and email the returns to St James’ House at resources.team@liverpool.anglican.org.
