Vocations Sunday 2026

Will you answer God’s call on Vocations Sunday?

Vocation means a call from God. One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was to call disciples. It’s the same call we all hear today. On Sunday 26 April, we recognise and celebrate God’s blessing for vocations as part of our Christian discipleship and daily living.

Today on Vocations Sunday, we announce that Rev Canon Fr Harry Wood, will be transitioning his position at the Diocese of Liverpool as the Diocesan Director of Ordinands as a full time position. You can watch Harry’s and Bishop Ruth’s message below.

Every Christian has a vocation. It’s an exciting lifelong journey of discovering how best to express your gifts and talents for the glory of God. There are numerous opportunities to help you become equipped for this journey, no matter who you are. That includes – you!

God is always calling people to various ministries in our church and in our lives. It can sometimes be confusing to understand how you can serve Christ and develop into the person God has called you to be (and thrive while doing it!).

There are many different lay and ordained ways to serve. In simple terms, being ordained means you lead worship, preach, and administer the sacraments (bread and wine). There are lots of lay opportunities including licensed lay ministry, children and youth ministry, administration roles and many more. We can help you explore that.
