This is a holding page for the Larger Single Parish (LSP) in Sefton. Through the Fit for Mission process, 9 churches across two deaneries are joining together to form one LSP, which will allow for a stronger community across the churches, centralise governance locally and reach more people missionally.
As we move further into this transition process, a new website will be developed where you can find everything you need to know about your parish, including service times, contact information and event details.
As a diocese, we’re asking God for a bigger church to make a bigger difference and we believe that Fit for Mission is the discerned path to achieve this. We are now into cohort 3 of this programme and have identified 9 parishes who have voted to form a LSP. In this two years of ‘acting as if’ we will prayerfully work towards building our own locally formed larger single parish that reflects the needs, passions and people of Sefton N&S.
This LSP includes the following churches:
- Christ Church Bootle
- St John and St James
- St Oswald’s
- Christ Church with St John
- St Mary’s
- St Faith
- St Nicholas
- St Luke
- St Michaels

What is happening currently?
A navigation team has been formed who will oversee all the documentation being made and help form the new parish. They are a group of lay people from across the LSP who meet once a week to discuss the parish and make decisions through prayer, compassion and personal insight. Their current focus is solidifying the vision of the new parish. Learn more about this team.
