Congratulations to Eric and Barbara Runcorn, who have just celebrated a remarkable 70 years of marriage this past Tuesday, a truly exceptional milestone!
To mark their Platinum Wedding Anniversary, a special Thanksgiving Service was held this afternoon at St. Oswald’s Church, led by the Reverend Martin Cox, Rector of Newchurch, Croft and Winwick.
The service was a deeply moving and joyful occasion, with more than 116 family members and friends gathering to celebrate Eric and Barbara and to give thanks for their seven decades of marriage.

Speaking about the significance of the occasion, Revd Martin Cox said:
It is estimated that only around 30 couples in the UK celebrate their 70th (platinum) wedding anniversary each year. This rare milestone means reaching seven decades of marriage is a one-in-a-million occurrence, eligible for a special message from The Royal Family. Our dear friends Eric and Barbara Runcorn celebrated this significant and rare milestone in their lives today at a special Thanksgiving Service.
The service gave family and friends the opportunity to reflect on Eric and Barbara’s remarkable journey together and celebrate the love, commitment and memories they have shared throughout their 70 years of marriage. The celebrations continued afterwards in the church hall, where everyone gathered together to enjoy refreshments and continue marking this very special occasion.
