Church St Helens and Christ Our Hope West Derby both decided together that this year they would celebrate Generous Harvest. National Generosity Week falls during Harvest as the season lends itself so well to the theme of giving generously to those less fortunate, and resourcing our churches for the seasons ahead. Christ Church Eccleston enjoyed a lively Harvest Service – with Revd Sonya looking very ‘hap-pea’ to see everyone! A huge offering of food was taken to the St Helens Pantry where it will be appreciated by many local people in need. This is one story of many, and we highlight this to give thanks to God for all he has provided, and for the generosity that sits within each of our churches.
Generosity ripples throughout the bible, and throughout our lives every day – so you can pick up these resources for any time through the year. Generous Advent is the next opportunity for your church to delve into scripture and explore how the story of Haggai, and God’s promises to His people, are always fulfilled.
Generous Advent provides themed liturgy, flexible prayer activities, a small group reflection study with brand new videos and all age service plans. Simply head to the diocesan website to browse and download the tools to support your church in a meaningful and prayerful conversation about personal and corporate generosity.
