‘I heard from so many others and felt inspired and elevated by their stories’

The Lifecall team is excited to announce that a new Directions course will start in September.

We spoke to some recent attendees about what they gained from completing the course. First up, Victoria shares her experience:

Your Background

I am an educator, a poet and a keen hiker whose day-to-day life revolves around my friends, family, work and the various other community activities I am involved in. I was born into an active Christian family and continue to enjoy the support, encouragement and inspiration of my family in my faith life. From as young as I can remember, where I have found a church, I have quickly become a constant and working member, whether that is singing in the choir, reading and praying, leading groups or just welcoming people into services. There were years of doubt, of course, but God’s grace has always been abundant and I have been guided back into his body.

Why did you decide to take part in the Directions course?

I have felt a calling for a long time and was not sure what that was. I had initially had discussions with my incumbent about full-time ministry then discerned that was not for me and a reader ministry might be better. It was recommended that I attend the Directions course as a way of learning more and hopefully discerning further.

What have you gained from completing the Directions course?

Most importantly, I heard from so many others and felt inspired and elevated by their stories. The opportunity to learn and pray together was invaluable. Having this dedicated period to think about one’s ministry helped give me the space to make a decision.

Would you recommend the Directions course and why?

I recommend that if you are thinking of any kind of ministry in your church, your local community or workplace or the wider world, and are unsure, the directions course will support you.
