On Saturday March 29, over a hundred people gathered in St. Paul’s, Widnes, for Cultivate’s annual Inspire event. Every year Cultivate organises a gathering of worship community leaders and their teams from across the region, looking to support, encourage and equip lay leaders in their missional call to plant new worship communities, including those who are just starting on the journey, or even just thinking about it! It is a gathering of Anglican and Methodist lay leaders, and the highlight every year is hearing from worship community leaders from across the region, including this year The Shed in Wigan, TNT in Huyton, Church Collective in Warrington, and several others. We enjoyed hearing from Jonny Baker (Britain Hub mission director of the Church Mission Society) and Eunice Attwood, having interactive workshops, sharing worship (led by Tim Coates and the Mount band), and generally being inspired! Cultivate is looking to expand across the diocese over the next few years, engaging with every church to increase their missional capacity, to inspire local congregations to think creatively about engaging with people beyond their current communities of faith, and to train local clergy to grow and develop their own lay missional leaders.
