Last week, Bishop Ruth visited 3 schools in the Diocese of Liverpool. St Hilda’s Church of England High School in Liverpool on Monday and on Tuesday both St Johns Crossen’s Church of England Primary School and Banks St Stephen in Southport.
On these visits, Bishop Ruth met with all three headteachers to learn about the fantastic and unique work these three schools are carrying out in their schools, as well as hearing from the incredibly committed teams at these schools, listening to teachers from all different year groups/ departments. She also met and heard from pupils at all three schools to hear what they were enjoying on their education journey.
Bishop Ruth sat down with groups of students at each school to partake in a Q&A the children and young people had prepared for her. This was a real opportunity for pupils really interested in Christianity to interview a bishop and find out more about the role and its purpose. Making for a really unique day and experience for the students.
At St Johns Crossen’s Church of England Primary School, Bishop Ruth accompanied the school to St John’s Church for the Leavers Eucharist Service Led by Rev Rebecca, and Licensed Reader, Karen Corbett. This wonderful service resonated with the children moving onto high school. Bishop Ruth blessed the children and expressed her best wishes to the pupils progressing onto the next big stage in their educational lives.
At the end of each visit, Bishop Ruth thanked the head teachers for their outstanding work and offered her continued support from herself and on behalf of the Education Department within the Diocese of Liverpool. Informing them if they need any support then to please get in touch with the education team and herself and they will do all they can to help these schools continue to provide a world class education for the pupils in their care.
