Clergy Moves and Recent Appointments

Since our last update, we have seen a number of clergy take up new ministries, welcomed new deacons through ordination, and marked the retirement and departure of valued colleagues.

Please find below the latest clergy moves and other ministry appointments.

  • Revd Cate Jacobs – Was SSM Curate at Speke St Aidan with All Saints, has now been appointed as Associate Priest at Speke St Aidan with All Saints. Cate was licenced to this new ministry on 4th June 2026, by the Archdeacon of St Helens and Warrington.
  • Revd Cathie Higgins – Was Curate in the Church St Helens Team, has now been appointed as Team Vicar at St Thomas and Christ Church Eccleston in the Church St Helens Team. Cathie was licensed to this new ministry on 8th June 2026, by the Bishop of Wigan.
  • Revd Andrew Bailey – Was Curate in Penny Lane St Barnabas, has been appointed as Priest in Charge of Ormskirk St Peter and St Paul. Andrew was licensed to this new ministry on 18th June 2026 by the Bishop of Warrington.

The following people were Ordained Deacon on the 28th June 2026 at Liverpool Cathedral by the Bishop:

  • Levi Freed  – Assistant Curate to Penny Lane St Barnabas.
  • Lisa Aindow – Assistant Curate to Mossley Hill St Matthew and St James.
  • Sharon Dooley  – SSMAssistant Curate tothe Gateacre Team.
  • Andres Florez-Cardendas – Assistant Curate to Childwall All Saints.
  • Iona Morphet – Assistant Curate to Great Crosby St Faith and St Mary.
  • Peter Naylor – SSMAssistant Curate to Warrington Larger Single Parish.
  • Sue Snow – SSMAssistant Curate to Speke St Aidan with All Saints.
  • Hannah Wilson – Assistant Curate to Church St Helens.
  • Terry Burke – SSMAssistant Curate to Liverpool All Saints.
  • Lindsay Yates – SSMAssistant Curate to Church Wigan.
  • Revd Canon Helen Edwards – Who was Team Rector of Christ Our Hope Liverpool, retired from this post on 7th June 2026.
  • Revd Sam Johnson – Who was Vicar of Birkdale St James and St Peter, resigned from this post on 28th June 2026.

Appointments:

  • Revd Philippa Lea – Was Team Vicar in the Kirkby Team, has now been appointed as Vicar at Aigburth St Anne. Philippa was licenced to this new ministry on 9th July, by the Bishop of Warrington.
  • Revd Michelle Goodwin – Was Priest in Charge in the South Widnes Team, has now been appointed as Associate Priest at Widnes St Mary and Widnes St Ambrose. Michelle was licensed to this new ministry on 14th July, by the Bishop of Warrington.
  • Revd Canon Will Gibbons – Was Team Vicar in Christ our Hope Parish, has now been appointed as Team Rector in this parish. Will was licensed to this new ministry on 23rd July, by the Bishop of Warrington.
  • Revd Dr Suzanne Quick – Was Self Supporting Assistant in the Newton Team, has been appointed as Chaplain in HMP Risley. Suzanne was licensed to this new ministry on 16th July by the Bishop of Warrington.
  • Revd Canon Stuart Haynes – Was Self Supporting minister in Ormskirk Parish Church, has been appointed as Vicar of Knotty Ash St John. Stuart will be licensed to this new ministry on 30th August by Bishop Geoff.
  • Revd Jonty Forster – Was Vicar of West Derby St Luke and Stockbridge Village St Jude, has now been appointed as Associate Priest in St Barnabas Penny Lane. Jonty will be licensed to this new ministry on 3rd September by the Bishop of Warrington.
  • Revd Andrea De Vaal Horciu – Was Vicar of St Mary’s & St Beuno’s Church, Whitford, has been appointed as Team Vicar in the Church St Helens team. Andrea will be licensed to this new ministry on 8th September by Bishop Geoff.
  • Revd Melanie Takac – Was Minor Canon for Worship and Liturgy at Bristol Cathedral, has been appointed Precentor of Liverpool Cathedral. Melanie will be licensed to this new role on12th September by the Bishop of Warrington. 

Retirements:

  • Revd Bob Lewis – Who was Priest in Charge of Glazebury and Hollinfare, retired from this post on 26th July 2026.
  • Revd Canon Robert Clack – Who is Rector of Wavertree Holy Trinity, retired from this post on 30th August 2026.
