Vacancy in See – Consultation Surveys Now Open

Posted on

Following the resignation of Bishop John Perumbalath in July 2025 the See of Liverpool became vacant, and since that time the diocese has been led led by Bishop Ruth Worsley as Interim Bishop.

Vacancy in See has now entered the consultation phase and surveys to discern and advise the Vacancy in See Committee have now opened.

This is an important moment in the life of our diocese as we prayerfully look ahead to the appointment of a permanent diocesan bishop.

A key part of this process is hearing from the people of this diocese.

We are inviting everyone who lives, worships, works or participates in the life of the Diocese of Liverpool to share their views through our public consultation survey.

Your voice is vital in helping us understand the hopes, needs and opportunities for the future of our diocese, and the qualities we seek in our next Bishop of Liverpool.

The surveys will remain open until Thursday 30th April until 5pm.

As the diocese moves through Vacancy in See, Bishop Ruth Worsley will continue to serve as Interim Bishop and we will soon be welcoming Simon Robinson as Bishop of Warrington. Together they will ensure pastoral leadership and prayerful support for the diocese.

At this important time in the life of our diocese, we ask for your prayers for the work of the Vacancy in See Committee as it undertakes the local work of listening, consultation and prayerful discernment on behalf of the Diocese of Liverpool.

Today we have also launched a dedicated webpage for you to find information and regular updates regarding Vacancy in See.
