The Diocese of Liverpool is committed to treating our whole community with dignity and respect.  As an employer, the DBF is responsible for ensuring this is the case for all our staff, particularly with regard to the range of characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010; race, culture, religion, sexual orientation, gender and disability.  We are committed to ensuring that every person is able to fulfil their potential within a proactive, loving and caring environment.

This is part of our mutual commitment to being a justice centred Church. As part of our commitment to this, we’re delighted to share the Diocesan Oversight Team has established a reference group for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) folk to continue to work for justice in our life together.  These are open not just to employed staff but also to all lay and ordained ministers within the Diocese in order to support you and your wellbeing and see you fulfil your potential.

Liverpool Diocese LGBTQIA+ Staff Network is open to LGBTQIA+ staff employed either by Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool Diocesan Board of Finance or its associated charities (e.g. The Good Funeral Company, Together Liverpool). • To create a safe supportive space for LGBTQIA+ employees and clergy to share experiences
  • To build encouraging and supportive relationships
  • To ensure LGBTQIA+ voices are heard – and listened to
  • To offer counsel and challenge to the Bishop around the ongoing Living in Love and Faith conversations, rooted in the belief that LGBTQIA+ people are made in the image of God.

The network will gather approximately four times a year for prayer, social, reflection and mutual support. We meet both in person and on zoom to give the maximum flexibility for folk to take part..
