Safeguarding Team Update

Posted on

At the Diocese of Liverpool, safeguarding remains at the heart of all that we do. We are committed to ensuring that our churches and communities are a safe place for everyone, and that victims and survivors of abuse receive the support they deserve.

We are saying farewell to Andy Holmes, our Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, who after more than seven years of dedication and service is relocating to spend time with his family. Andy has played a significant role in strengthening safeguarding across the Diocese. His professionalism and compassion will always be remembered particularly in providing trauma-informed support to victims and survivors of church-related abuse and all the work he has done so far to strengthen safeguarding across the diocese. We are deeply grateful for his outstanding contribution and wish him every success in the future.

We are pleased to announce that Mick Murphy will serve as Acting Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser during this transition period until a permanent appointment is made. Mick has been an integral part of our safeguarding work for five years, first as Cathedral Safeguarding Officer and more recently as Deputy Safeguarding Adviser. His experience and commitment will ensure that safeguarding continues to be delivered with the same compassion and care.

Mick will be supported by our recently expanded and strong safeguarding team:

  • Lauryn Dobie, Cathedral Safeguarding Officer
  • Deborah Doran, Safeguarding Support
  • Karen Williams, Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser
  • Sarah McKeown, Safeguarding Training Officer

Our team is always available to offer advice, support, guidance and action. If you have a safeguarding concern or wish to seek advice, please contact us at safeguarding.team@liverpool.anglican.org. Every concern raised is treated seriously, and our team will respond promptly and with sensitivity.
