A Reflection on Ordinations to Deacon 2025

On Saturday 21st June 2025, 12 were ordained to deacon in a moving and joyful service at Liverpool Cathedral. The service, which began at 3pm, marked a significant milestone in the ministries of those called to serve communities across the Diocese of Liverpool.

The Rt Revd Geoff Pearson presided over the service and licensed those as deacon. Archdeacon Miranda Threlfall-Holmes, delivered the sermon, offering words of encouragement, challenge, and inspiration to those being ordained, as well as to the wider congregation gathered in support.

The people ordained to deacon were:

  • David Adah, serving at Much Woolton St Peter
  • Adam Archer, serving at Church St Helens
  • Paul Davies, serving at Burscough Bridge St John
  • Kirsty Fazakerley, serving at Christ Our Hope
  • Martin Fuller, serving at Newchurch with Croft
  • Kate Greaves, serving at Blundellsands St Nicholas
  • Thomas Hurst, serving at Prescot St Mary
  • James Hutchinson-Ferguson, serving at Halewood and Hunts Cross Team and Speke St Aidan with All Saints
  • David Kernick, serving at Liverpool St Margaret’s Antioch and Liverpool St Luke in the City
  • Anne Campbell, serving at Aigburth St Anne
  • David Cosslett, serving at Church Wigan
  • David Smith, serving in the Newton Team
