Over the past two years, the Church has taken steps towards racial justice, guided by From Lament to Action (FLTA). This includes acknowledging its role in the transatlantic slave trade and committing to truth, sorrow, and repair.
As part of this ongoing journey, a Truth Telling Conference will be held this June to explore the Anglican Church’s involvement in African chattel enslavement and the lasting impact of colonialism. The international gathering will bring together theologians, historians, clergy, and community leaders for honest reflection and dialogue.
The conference will promote understanding, healing, and collaborative action grounded in justice and accountability.
This event aims to: unveil historical truths, encourage racial justice and theological reflection and support collaboration for future change.
The anticipated results of this conference is for a greater awareness of the Church’s historical role, sharing of knowledge and best practice and progress towards healing and transformation
This event will take place on 23-25th June 2025 at University of Liverpool, Brownlow Hill, Liverpool, L69 7ZX
